The Hamilton Beach 04383 has a very respectable fan for its size, and 3 speed settings. The fastest one is as loud as you would expect any regular fan to be. The lowest speed is quiet enough you can ignore it’s there. Air flows in through the front of the unit and comes out at the top (when set horizontally) or the side when set upright (which is the ideal setup). As a bonus, this lateral airflow seems to move air in the room much better than anything else, and it helps during warm days to make the room feel 10 degrees lower.

The Honeywell 18155 is very sturdy and very well build, a little bulky, but not too heavy to be relocated if needed. It blows cold air, not like a fan and not too direct, at a 360 degree radius (it also pulls from every direction). The cold air will be nice in the summer. It has a very comforting and relaxing white noise hum to it. The motor runs very soft and consistent and there is no rattling or buzzing of any kind.
